My name is Gina. Like many couples, my husband, Kevin, and I dream of a loud house, messy toys, and the joy of raising a child. But unlike most, our path requires a miracle—and a little bit of help. In my early 20s, a battle with severe PCOS forced me to make a life-altering decision. To prevent cancer, I had to have a partial hysterectomy. I lost my ability to carry a pregnancy, but I never lost my desire to be a mother. Here is the good news: Because I was able to keep my ovaries, my husband and I can still have a biological child through gestational surrogacy. The science is there, the love is there, and our hearts are ready. The only thing missing is the funding.
